Poker is one of the most popular types of gambling and every casino, high end or low end, have them in their gambling menu card. That’s because it’s of the earliest type of gambling which is widely recognized all around the world. And whether you’re into gambling or not, you must have heard the name too.
But poker is not just a single game. In fact, it has dozens of different variations invented over time.
In this article, you’re going to learn about the top three types of poker everyone should know about.
So, without further ado, let’s dive in…
1. Texas Hold’em: The Most Popular Poker Game
Texas Hold’em is currently the most popular poker game around now. It’s widely recognized all around the world and used in various poker championships nowadays.
In this game, every participating player gets two private hold cards. Once they get it, they need to figure out how they can use the cards to create an unbeatable 5-card hand. This game consists of 5 community card and you need to disclose 3 of them instantly in the flop round while the others will be opened.
Once every player sets their bets which are also known as blinds, they can progress through the round either by surpassing other player’s blinds or the blinds of their own. After that, a final showdown begins when more than one player reaches the final round. Then, the player who has the best card in their hands wins.
2. Omaha Hold’em Poker
If you already know how to play Texas Hold’em, then you should have no problem at all to play the Omaha Hold’em. Because all of their rules are the same. The only difference you’re going to encounter is that Omaha Hold’em has four private hold cards instead of two in the Texas variant. And you compulsorily need to use any two of them to create a winning hand.
Although you can use the blinds the same way you’ve used it in Texas Hold’em, the Omaha version normally takes place with a limit in hand. For example, one limit is Omaha 8-or-better. In this variant, the pot will be split between the high hand and low hand, which is a hand containing five different cards that either rank 8 or less than it.
3. 7-Card Stud
The 7-card stud was the most famous poker game before the emergence of Texas Hold’em. Back then, it was one fire and for a good reason. This game is generally played between 2-8 players. A big difference between 7-card stud and Texas Hold’em is that it does not have any sort of community card. Also, there are no flop rounds either.
Every player has to place an ante, which is a formal bet and they’re dealt with three cards( 2 face-down cards and one face-up card.) before the actual betting starts.
All players start the round by disclosing their weakest card and the betting goes on to the next round. After the 4 rounds when the players already have three more public cards and one private card, each of them has five cards in their hands.
After that, all of them will disclose their cards and the player who has the best hand wins.
